โฆ Synopsis
Pure rotational transitions of silver chloride generated in an electric discharge have been observed using a cavity microwave Fourier-transform spectrometer. This is the first report of the successful use of this method to generate a metal compound for microwave spectroscopy. The high resolution of the instrument has permitted an improvement of two orders of magnitude in the precision of the 35C1 nuclear quadrupole coupling constants.
