✦ Synopsis

Fuel Cells Bulletin 5 anode exhaust. Several locations are currently being evaluated for the HES demonstration.

Air Products recently completed a detailed evaluation of technical and economic aspects of this project, which demonstrated 'promising economics' for co-production of hydrogen, electricity and heat. According to Air Products' Greg Keenan, power plants based on this technology offer high efficiency, being able to recover up to 80-85% of the energy entering the system. The HES evaluation effort will expand on experience gained from Air Products' initial hydrogen energy station, the first to feature coproduction of hydrogen fuel and electrical power, in Las Vegas [FCB, January 2003].
