The longer serving amongst the subscribers to this magazine will remember Igor Karassik's pump clinic articles. These features were highly valued and had a style of their own. They addressed, in a practical manner, some of the real problems faced by pump users in their everyday activities. Sadly, Igor and his clinics are no longer with us, but the need for a practical analysis of pumping problems is just as relevant today.
In this issue of World Pumps, we introduce a new column following in the spirit of the pump clinics. In his many years in the pump business, working both for pump manufacturer and as an independent consultant, Robert Bright has amassed a tremendous experience of the problems that beset most pump users at some time or another. In his series, the Field Service Detective, he analyses some of these problems and proposes simple pragmatic solutions.
