โœฆ Synopsis

This paper discusses the experimental determination of pulsed liquid impact machining thresholds as a result of spatial and temporal distributions of transient stresses in elastically deformable single crystal materials. The results presented in this paper illustrate the importance of the first stages of liquid impact and the subsequent removal of material by lateral outflow of high-speed liquid flows.

The quantification of the acoustic quality of an impact forming machine by a single parameter, such as the sound power, is usually inadequate. This is so since the sound power of such a machine can vary within wide limits depending on the levels of process variables selected in carrying out a formin
