β¦ Synopsis
The study deals with the formation and deposition of polypyrrole on graphite particles . Experiments are carried out in an electrochemical reactor with a porous bed electrode . In the first part of the study, we examined the deposition of polypyrrole on a fixed bed electrode percolated by a solution of pyrrole. The potential drop leads to a limiting working zone . Scanning electron microscopy shows that the polypyrrole formed on the porous bed surface has a "cauliflower" structure . In the second part, the solution is pulsed producing a periodic fluidization of the bed . This configuration gives a film of polypyrrole which is more adherent, thinner and distributed all over the bed surface .
