Tras su paso por Europa con Reservoir Dogs y el éxito creciente de su debut, y con los guiones de Asesinos natos en las manos de Oliver Stone y Amor a quemarropa en las de Tony Scott, Quentin Tarantino decidió establecerse una temporada en Europa mientras iba granjeándose cierto prestigio como guionista. Tarantino se marchó a Amsterdam, donde se recluyó durante varias largas semanas con la finalidad de volcar todos sus esfuerzos en el guión de Pulp Fiction . Escribiendo en un mugriento apartamento con su vieja máquina de escribir, encontró su inspiración y supo justificar su pasotismo e individualismo con un guión que estaba llamado a convertirse en una película transgresora, original y que marcaría un hito y un sello de estilo propio, gracias a una historia fragmentada, pero hilada con unos diálogos sobresalientes, que hacen avanzar la historia a un ritmo trepidante. Pulp Fiction ha sido la película que lo consagró definitivamente como el cineasta joven, con talento, provocador y llamado a aportar y renovar el cine norteamericano de los noventa. En Pulp Fiction , Jules y Vincent son dos asesinos a sueldo que trabajan para Marsellus Wallace. Antes de realizar uno de sus trabajos, Vincent le confiesa a Jules que Marsellus le ha pedido que cuide de su novia, Mia. Comienzan a hablar sobre lo peligroso de sobrepasarse con la novia del jefe, pero llega la hora de trabajar y ambos deben ponerse en faena. Su misión: recuperar un misterioso maletín.
