Three-dimensional isosurface view of CLSM image stacks. The squared base has an area of 230 mm  230 mm; EPS glycoconjugates are shown in green (lectin isolated from Aleuria aurantia marked with Alexa-Fluor488), nucleic acids are red (SYTO60).

✦ Synopsis
It is a great pleasure for us to inform you that the first impact factor for Journal of Biophotonics has been released in the Journal Citation Report by ISI Thomson Reuters. For 2009, we have achieved an impressive first impact factor (IF) of 1.558.
The IF has been calculated based on the citations in 2009 to articles published in 2008, the first publication year of Journal of Biophotonics. This first IF is sometimes also called a "half impact factor" due to the fact that only one year is taken into account instead of the usual two preceding years. This is truly a very good start for a newly launched journal and we cordially thank all editors, authors and reviewers who have contributed to this success! Founded in 2008 by Professor Ju ¨rgen Popp (Jena, Germany) and Professor Gert von Bally (Muenster, Germany), the journal has achieved a good reputation over the past three years. As a platform for interdisciplinary exchange it is well accepted and respected among physicists, physical chemists, biologists, physicians and engineers.
