Stimulated by last year's Seligman Lecture and the National GM Debate, Professor Lillford discusses differences in the response of legislators and the individual towards new technologies, and their risks and benefits. The last SCI Seligman Lecture, 'Partnerships in food safety: how the interface between decision makers and scientist affects policy', was given by Professor Marc Le Maguer. He described his experiences with risk assessment and legislation whilst advising the Canadian Government on issues facing the food chain.
