โฆ Synopsis
The section will foster professional relationships and the sharing of experience and ideas between psychoanalytic psychotherapists and others who work psychoanalytically with older people.
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is increasingly valued in general as has been shown recently by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. There is also increasing interest in providing services for the elderly population. It is hoped that the establishment of the section will extend and combine these two areas of work.
The section will arrange open meetings with clinical and theoretic content and encourage and support informal links between health workers. It will also stimulate research and new ways of thinking in response to the demographic changes in the population and recent academic developments. The section hopes to arrange teaching seminars, supervision groups and the compilation of a bibliography.
The section would appreciate your help in all of these functions. If you would like to join, please contact either the convenor, Dr. Ruth Porter,
