We present a technique to generate Cartesian Gaussian bases for electronic configuration and cross-section calculations on molecules. The technique is specially useful for pseudopotential work, when the bases cannot be tabulated because they depend on the specific choice of the pseudopotential.
We demonstrate that the Cartesian multipole interaction tensor may be evaluated with recurrence relations analogous to the McMurchie-Davidson algorithm for calculation of electron repulsion integrals. With these recursion relations all elements of the Cartesian multipole tensor through order 2' may
Potential energy curves for the CaHe system are recalculated using a modified version of the pseudopotential method. Unlike our previous calculations, the CaHe diatomic is now handled as a four-electron system. In the Cl calculation, only the valence electrons of Ca are active, whereas the electrons
