✦ Synopsis

The 1,3 dipolar cycloadditions of diazomethane and ethyl diazoacetate with differently substituted 5-mlfur-2(5/-/)-furanones (1-6) are rcpone~ Cycloaddition of diazomethane occurs in a regio-and ~¢ manner to give the ~ed adducts 9-14, in good yield. The cycloaddition with ethyl diazoat~ate occurs also in a regio-and stereospecitic manner, but affords the corresponding 2-pyrazolines 15-19.
