✦ Synopsis
The rubidium oxochromium (III) arsenate Rb 2 Cr 2 O(AsO 4 ) 2 crystallizes in the Pnma (no. 62) space group with a ؍ 8.546(3) A s , b ؍ 5.665(1) A s , c ؍ 18.464(5) A s , V ؍ 893.9(4) A s 3 , Z ؍ 4, R(F 2 ) ؍ 0.037, R w (F 2 ) ؍ 0.090 for 766 reflections with F 2 > 4 (F 2 ). The structure consists of CrO 6 octahedra and AsO 4 tetrahedra sharing corners to form a two-dimensional framework. The CrO 6 octahedra are joined by edges forming puckered chains running along the [100] direction. Mixed Cr-O-As bridges link these chains together. Rb ؉ cations are located in the interlayer space.
