✦ Synopsis


A proximate nutritive composition study (soluble carbohydrates, starch, protein. fat. ash, and dietary fiber) has been carried out on fruits of Visnea mocancra L.f.. so called "mocán" fruits. The results obtained have shown a high content of soluble carbohydrates (mainly glucose and fructose) and dietary fiber (mainly cellulose and lignine). Mineral content, fat material, and protein were within the expected ranges for berries. (c) 1994 Academic Press, Inc.
