โฆ Synopsis
Spectral characteristics of six benzimidazoles (BIs) have been studied as a function of sollium dodecyl sulfite (SDS) at a given plI and as a function of plI at a given SDS concentration. Distribution of Bls into micellar and aqueous phases has been determined using a selective fluorescence quenching method. Binding constants of the Bls and their monocations (\left(\mathrm{Bl}^{+} \mathrm{s}\right)) to SDS micelles have been calculated. Apparent p (K_{a}) values for the prototropic equilibrium have been found for each BI. The change in the apparent (\mathrm{p} K_{a}) values depends upon the solubilizing power of the micelles, as well as on the location of the protonating site in the molecule. 1994 Academic Press. Inc.
