## Abstract The transmission of human T‐lymphotropic virus Type 1 (HTLV‐1) occurs mainly __via__ breast‐feeding, sexual intercourse and blood transfusions. After transmission, the HTLV‐1 infection is predominantly maintained by cell‐to‐cell infection and clonal expansion; however, the details have
