between the symptoms of TS and pharrnacologic manipulations of the endogenous opioid system (EOS) has also been suggested by the observation that naltrexone, an opiate antagonist, may lessen self-harming behavior in TS patients (3). Naltrexone therapy has also been observed to reduce self-harming behavior in patients with other conditions such as autism and mental retardation (4). Our case lends further support to the hypothesis that the EOS may play an important role in the pathogenesis of at least some symptoms of TS (9, particularly self-harming behavior.
