✦ Synopsis
Synaptic transniissioii through the superior cervical ganglion of the turtle was investigated by Heinbecker (10). The use of this preparation offers two advantages, ( a ) often the preganglioiiic and postganglionic trunks can easily be dissected free through consiclerablc lengtlis, up to several cm, and (13) the ganglion ma>-be excised and kept in a humid chamber.
The results obtained during the researcall to be presented in this and following papers (12,13,19) indicate that hr itself * Fibers crossing through the ganglion without establishing svnaptie conncctiorls habe been found in a number o f preparations; in the majority o f cases they were fibers of the C group.
