✦ Synopsis
Specific-heat measurement is performed for Ca-substituted samples for Sr in Bi 2.1 Sr 1.9Ày Ca y CuO 6+d . Specific heat anomaly associated with the superconducting transition is observed for the samples for y = 0.8, 0.95 and 1.0. The anomalies are consistent with the behavior of the magnetic measurement and suggest the bulk effect of the 80 K-class superconductivity.

The modulated crystals of Bi-based superconducting oxides are well described as composite crystals [Walker and Que, Phys. Rev. B 45 (1992) 14 ]. The structure of the superconducting oxide Bi2+xSr2\_xCuO6+y was analyzed for the first time as composite crystal by the Rietveld method with the combined
The study of the Bi2.~Sr2.yCu~O ~ series revealed the influence of oxwen and bismuth htcorporation into the structure on the transport properties of R-2201 phase. The behaviour is interpreted by the occupancy of the O(2) vacant sites in-(SrO)-layers by oxygens and of Sr-sites by bismuth ions.
An insulating polymorph with a composition close to Bi2Sr2CuO 6 complicates the synthesis of the single copper layer superconductor Bi2+xSr2\_yCuO6e~. We concentrate on the region where the material is single phase in air synthesis (2.18 <x<2.29, 1.44 < y< 1.7 ). The physical properties from insulat
