✦ Synopsis

This paper deals with a mathematical model of propagation of waves in systems of excitable cells and proposes a solution technique of an inverse problem related to the characterization and identification of relevant features of the mathematical model. In particular, the inverse problem refers to the solution of the initial-boundary value problem with underspecified boundary conditions.

This paper concerns the solution of an inverse scattering problem arising in seismic exploration. The problem to be analyzed is the prediction of the acoustic wave speeds ahead of a drill-bit device located at the center of a well bore and regarded as a seismic source, from measurements of the displ
