Measurements of vibration and structure-borne sound were carried through on the Deutsche ~undesbahn experimental line for high speed trains near Rheda-Oelde (Westphalia) at :he instigation of the Deutsche Bundesbahn authorities.

Measuring points were fixed at distances of 7"5 m, 15 m, 30 m, 50 m and 100 m from the ;rack respectively. Additionally a pick-up was mounted at the base of the rail. At other ~neasuring points the pick-ups were fixed to spikes (manufactured from angle-iron) driven ~nto the ground. The length of the spikes was 40 cm approximately. The following types of
