✦ Synopsis
Experimental results on wave propagation and stationary structures in a discrete reactiondiffusion system are presented. We consider an array of diffusion coupled flow reactors where in each of the reactors, the chlorite-iodide bistable reaction is taking place. For asymmetrical boundary conditions, it is observed that the wave front fails to propagate below a critical value of the exchange rate. For symmetrical boundary conditions, a variety of symmetrical stationary structures are obtained. Bistability is observed in these structures, i.e. two distinct structures can be observed for a given value of the exchange rate.
