Reaction theories are presented that can deal with the large size and strong breakup couplings of exotic halo nuclei, leading to elastic scattering and breakup cross sections. Glauber, adiabatic and coupled-channels methods are demonstrated which include virtual breakup effects nonperturbatively.

We report here on the first results obtained from the study of the 24 Ne(d, p) 25 Ne reaction performed with SPIRAL beam at GANIL using the new TIARA + VAMOS + EXOGAM setup.
