✦ Synopsis

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Maurice Stacey. He was held in great affection and esteem by all who knew him and especially by those who passed through the Department of Chemistry at the University of Birmingham.

It was he who had the idea of founding an international journal for Polymer Science. He was an effective and loyal supporter of the Europprrn Polymer Jound and he contributed most significantly to its growth and development.
