It came as something of a shock and was received with considerable sadness by my wife and I, when we were informed on the evening of September 24th of the death of Computer & Security's Editor-in-Chief Emeritus, Dr. Harold Highland. I had only spoken to Harold a few days earlier and discussed submission of his next Bits & Bytes column and arrangements for his planned visit to London in early November to speak at our Compsec Conference. He was his usual charming, professional and humorous self, and it never crossed my mind that that might be the last time I would talk to him.
