✦ Synopsis

Since 1954 he is chairman of the Botanical Institute . As early as a student of the Charles University B . FOTT started his phycological activity dealing with the biology, taxonomy and ecology of algae and their parasites . He studied the freshwater and marine algae occurring in fishponds, lakes, bog-lakes, springs, salines, seas and soil . Out of Czechoslovakia he worked in many hydrobiological and phycological institutes and stations, e.g. Lunz am See,
