A Streptomyces sp. isolate, from decayed wood shavings, solubilized lignocelhdose (LC) and lignin of Pinus radiatu, producing about 50 mg acid-precipitable polymeric lignin per g LC. In order to gain information about lignin molecular characteristics with a direct bearing on the remarkable susceptibility of some Austral hardwoods to biological delignification, milled-wood lignins were isolated and analyzed by spectroscopic 13 Ε½ 13 techniques in the solid state.
