✦ Synopsis

We have measured the total emission cross section for H,, Hp prqduction in dissociative collisions between Li+, K+and Hz in the c-m. energy range from 40-500 eV. By applying a branchmg-ratio correction to the total emission data we calculate absolute total cross sections for these dissociative processes. Collisional dissociation is of interest because it may be considered a limiting case for vibrational excitation or three-body rearrangement_ Previous theoreticai and experimental studies in the low-energy regime have concentrated on processes leading primarily to ground-electronic state exit channels [I-S] . On the other hand, while

The excitation of Individual vibrational states in central collisions of monoenergetie Li +-ions on H 2 -molecules in ~ ground vibrational state has been observed at center of rna~s energies of 2.28 eV, 4.50 eV and 6.73 eV using a time of flight method described earlier. The time of flight spectra h
