β¦ Synopsis
Testicular Leydig cells of BALB/c Jax mice exhibit time-dependen t patterns of nicotinamide-adenine-dinucleotide-phosphate (NADP)-linked glucose-$ phosphate and isocitrate dehydrogenase activity beginning five days before birth. 111 crude homogenates of fetal testes, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PDH) activity is twice that found in the adult. Levels drop at birth and remain low. Isocitrate dehydrogenase activity is high during late gestation and at 10 and 60 days postpartum, but decreases in the neonatal and the prepubertal testis. Moderate prenatal NADPKdiaphorase activity is reduced in the postpartum animal. Conversely, there is a steady increase in reduced nicotinamide-adenine-dinucleotide (NADH)-diaphorase activity after birth, with adult levels being attained by the third week. Inhibition of testicular G-6-PDH activity by pregnenolone, dehydroepiandrosterone, and cholesterol is proportional to steroid concentration between M and

The two C-4 protons of reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) produce an AB NMR spectrum at 100 MHz as well as at 220 MHz. This observation allows an upper limit of 50 sec-l to be placed on the mean rate of interconversion of the two folded forms of NADH invoked to account for the magnetic
