✦ Synopsis


We fabricated c-axis oriented large grain (Sm,Eu,Gd)Ba 2 Cu 3 O 7Àd bulk superconductors with BaO 2 addition under 1% O 2 partial pressure in Ar. The experiment showed that BaO 2 addition significantly reduced a RE-Ba substitution, slightly hindered the coarsening of (Sm,Eu,Gd) 2 BaCuO 5 inclusion, and improved the superconducting properties. An optimum adding amount was around 0.06-0.18 per mol RE123. At 77 K, the critical current density reached 83,000 A/ cm 2 at zero field.
