โฆ Synopsis
Catalytic transformation of 4-picoline into 4-cyanopyridine with nitric oxide (NO) over nickel oxide aluminium oxide catalyst has been examined using a fixed bed reactor in the temperature range 280-440 "C, under atmospheric pressure. A number of NiO catalysts on different supports were prepared and their selectivity was checked. A maximum conversion of 99% was achieved with the nickel oxide aluminium oxide catalyst having composition AlaOa:NiO: of 40:60 at a temperature of 360 "C with NO:picoline mol ratio of 50.
