✦ Synopsis

Letters to the Editor on present and future energy requirements, in most cases country by country.

The useful sections of the book dealing with the formation, occurrence, discovery and exploitation of natural gas fields have been considerably expanded to take account of recent developments in the relevant technologies.

Considerably more space has been given to the important topic of liquid natural gas, and there is also a comprehensive section on storage of liquid natural gas, as well as of natural gas itself and of liquid petroleum gases.

The book is written in a readable style and is well illustrated with plates, line diagrams and maps. It is what it claims to be: a study of the whole story of natural gas from the laying down of organic source material hundreds of millions of years ago right through to present and future uses of the gas in a wide variety of applications.

It should prove a useful textbook for the advanced student, and experts in the field should find it a useful reference book.
