The vacancy was filled by the election of Mr. S. LLOYD WIEGAND.

He also reported a resolution of the Board, recommending that a set of the JOURNAL be presented to the University of Toronto, the buildings and library of which Institution had been destroyed by fire. The recommendat;vfl was unanimously approved.

A memoir of the late Mr. FREDI'RIC GRAFF, prepared by a special committee of the Board for publication in the JOURNAL, was read by the Secretary, and was ordered to be spread upon the minutes. (The memoir appears elsewhere in this impression.)

Mr. CARL HERING, Delegate of the INSTITUTE to the Paris World's F~ir of I889, presented an oral report of the progress in the electrical arts as. shown at the Exhibition. The Secretary*presented.his monthly report.
