Present, 60 members and visitors. Additions to membership since last report, 5. r)r. J. 5Ierritt Matthews, of Philadelphia, presented an informal cOnllnU-~:i~:ation on "Viscose and Its Applications," illustrating the subject by the ed;ibition of numerous specimens. The speaker was accorded the thanks of t~'~e meeting.

Mr. J. Allen Heany described and exhibited in operation an improved } ,~:losed Are Lamp of his invention.

i~2r. E. D. Dorsey gave a brief account of the development of dex~ices ii~ eI~ded for addressing envelopes, wrappers, etc., for mailing and other purt?(;ses ; and described and showed iu operation an improved apparatus of this " r " cla~s, called the Addressog aph, for which special advantages were claimed.

The several subjects presented at the meeting were severally referred to the Committee on Science and the Arts for investigation and report.
