โœฆ Synopsis

PROBLEM 1. (J. R. Henderson via H. Taylor) Is there a square matrix which, by permuting rows or columns, is transposable but not symmetrizable? Find an example and characterize all examples. Henderson has proved that there are none for 2 x 2, 3 x 3, or 4 x 4, and no such (0, 1) matrices with exactly three ones in each row and column for orders up to 8 x 8.
