Various approaches to cabin noise reduction within turbo-prop aircraft have been suggested. Since the primary source of internal noise is due to propeller-induced fuselage vibration, the noise can be reduced by minimizing the noise transmission through the fuselage using active structural control. As a result of flight noise measurements made at various locations in the cabin of the standard lined/no interior Westwind model 1124 business executive jet, it was possible to develop an empirical method for predicting the overall sound pressure level (OASPL) at any required location in the cabin.
