An extrapulmonary oat cell carcinoma arising in the larynx is described. Ultrastructurally the tumor is identical to the oat cell carcinoma of pulmonary origin. The pressure of neurosecretory granules in our case strongly suggests that the tumor is derived from Kulchitsky-like cells, a histogenesis
Distant metastases from late stages of carcinoma of the vocal cords can occur. Such metastatic deposit can occur in unusual sites. In this report, we are presenting a patient with spread to the cavernous sinus. Radiation therapy was of palliative value.
Six hundred sixty-eight patients with tumours of the larynx were treated by radiotherapy. The patients had stage T1 NO MO to T4 N3 MO disease. Patients with T I NO MO disease ( 273) had an excellent long-term survival (90%) as did those with T2 NO MO disease (142), whose 5-year survival was 70%. Pat
