โฆ Synopsis
I read with interest the article entitled "Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis Infiltration in Cerebrospinal Fluid: A Case Report" by Ghosal et al. 1 It may be pertinent to mention that a number of previous reports of this entity have been described in the cerebrospinal fluid. We reported on a series of 5 patients with histiocytic proliferative disorders nearly 20 yr ago in Acta Cytologica. 2 It is important to note that Acta Cytologica was one of the first Journals that was indexed, and this reference can be accessed online. In addition, these observations are well-documented in the standard textbooks of cytopathology, including Cytopathology of the Central Nervous System by Bigner and Johnston 3 and The Art and Science of Cytopathology by DeMay. 4 In these rapidly changing times with electronic data base searches, it is necessary to use multiple similar terms to improve the capture and also not ignore the good old-fashioned "texts."
There is really very little that has not been observed, described, and documented in the past.
