โฆ Synopsis
Access to the abdominal cavity is often gained through a midline incision. An incision through the midline can be made rapidly and, because no major anatomic structures are crossing the midline, it causes minimal damage to muscles, nerves, and blood supply of the abdominal wall. Postoperative wound complications, such as surgicalsite infection (SSI), wound dehiscence, and incisional hernia cause patients much suffering and generate costs for the welfare system.
