## Abstract ## BACKGROUND The purpose was to evaluate prevention of oral mucositis (OM) using chlorhexidine compared with placebo and with oral cooling (cryotherapy) during fluorouracil (5‐FU)‐based chemotherapy in gastrointestinal (GI) cancer. ## METHODS Patients with previously untreated GI ca
