✦ Synopsis
The high pressure-temperature quenched phase of with the structure was synthe-KTb(MoO 4 ) 2 b-KY(WO 4 ) 2 -type sized and investigated by Raman scattering under pressure up to 26 GPa. The Raman spectral features were analyzed in terms of the structural units, in particular the polyhedra and the MoÈO bond lengths, by MoO 6 relating the structure of the phase with that of the It is suggested that two types of groups b-KY(WO 4 ) 2 .
M o O 6 may be present to account for the calculated MoÈO bond lengths. No pressure-induced phase transition is found up to 26 GPa. The Tb Ñuorescence is totally absent in the quenched phase and reappears on heating to 500 ÄC, when the conversion of the material to the original orthorhombic phase of KTMO takes place.
