โฆ Synopsis
The pressuie dependence of the newly discovered mercury-compound IIgBa~CazCu3Og+~ (IIg-122:~) has been studied in delail up to 26 GPa in a cryogenic diamond anvil <:el! on a sample with a single superc:)ndncting phase.. Although initially "1"~ increases from 135 K at a rate of 1.0 Is[/(;Pa, at. intermediale pressures 07::/,)p ,lecrcas,:., rapidly. When pressure is increased %rther, however, T~ rises again significantly up |o 145 K at. 26 f;Pa (where OT~/Op ~_ 0.4 N/GPa). These results can be understood qualitatively on the basis of a charge-transfer model which allows a non-homogeneous distribution of holes among the inequivalent CuO~ layers.
