Telechelic methyl methacrylate

oligomers with aldehyde end-groups have been prepared by the oxidative cleavage of some statistical copolymers of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and buta-1,3-diene (BU). The oligomers have number average molecular weights ranging from SO&2000 (controlled by the composition of the copolymers from which they were prepared), dispersities of 2 or less, and difunctionalities approaching 100%. These oligomers can be chain extended using Wittig reagents to produce novel polymers.
