โœฆ Synopsis

Organ0 palladium sols were prepared from palladium complexes in various alcohols in the presence of polyvinylpyrrolidone. Uniform palladium particles ranging in size between 2 and 4 nm were obtained in 1-pentanol, a-phenylethyl alcohol, and j-phenylethyl alcohol solutions of palladium acetate. In contrast, Pd(acac), (acac, 2,4_pentanedionato) yielded particles of wider size distribution compared to those from palladium acetate.

Gelular poly(vinylpyridine)-supported palladium catalysts and their analogue have been prepared, and used to study the mechanism of hydrogenation and the solvent effect on catalytic activities. When the polymer-supported Pd catalyst was used in the hydrogenation of cyclohexene, an induction period i
