Organometallic dehalogenative polycondensation of dihaloaromatic compounds produces various p-conjugated polymers. p-Conjugated polymers with nitrogen in the aromatic ring form metal complexes, and regioregular pconjugated polymers such as head-to-tail poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (HT-P3HexTh), f

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Summary: New main‐chain‐type polymers of 8‐quinolinol were prepared by organometallic polycondensation. They had a poly(aryleneethynylene)‐type structure and exhibited photoluminescence with a peak at about 470 nm and quantum yields of 21–39%. Metal ions such as Zn^2+^ and Al^3+^ modified the photoluminescence.
Structure of the three main‐chain‐type polymers of 8‐quinolinol synthesized and studied here.
