Sequential addition of methyllithium and acyl chlorides to 0-trimethylsflyl acetyltrimethylsilane cyanohydrin affords g-acyloxy-N,N-bis(trimethylsilyl)enamines which cyclize to 2-substituted-4,5-dimethyloxazoles under thermolysis or trimethylsilyl trifluoromethanesulfonate treatment. Notwithstandin
