Studies of the chemical preparation, surface area, pore distribution, powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS) and acid-base properties of magnesia-alumina composite oxides were carried out. The preparation method led to supports with high
