Abstract

17β‐Hydroxy‐[1ξ,2ξ‐^3^H~2~]4,6‐androstadien‐3‐one was prepared by the selective reduction of 17β‐hydroxy‐1,4,6‐androstatrien‐3‐one in benzene with tritium over 5% palladium on carbon. After purification by thin layer chromatography and high pressure liquid chromatography, the specific activity was at least 37 Ci/mmol, and the radiochemical purity was greater than 96%.
