โฆ Synopsis
Ga-68 generators which employ different adsorbing materials are reported in literature (Ehrhardt and Welch, 1978; Loc'h et al., 1980).
Our generator system directly produces ionic gallium-68, such as [68Ga]gallium trichloride. A SnO, chromatographic column is employed as adsorbing system. The daughter radionuclide (68Ga) is eluted with a sterile, pyrogen-free 1.0 N HCl solution. Elution efficiency higher than 75% and 68Ge-breakthrough lower than 5 x 10m4% is routinely obtained.
The parent radionuclide ( 68Ge) was produced by cyclotron (MC40, JRC, Ispra) through a (p,2n) nuclear reaction using gallium at very high chemical purity as target material.
