Very short Cu‐Cu distances occur in the triiododicuprates (1) and (2), which can be prepared in organic solvents from copper and ammonium iodides. The cations of the crystalline complexes are distinguished by the fact that the Cul~4~‐tetrahedra are alternately linked via common edges and faces.
