In order to improve the margin for operating temperature changes and to achieve high recording performance, CoยฑSn substituted Ba-ferrite particles were investigated. It was found that BaFe 12ร2x Co x Sn x O 19 particles with x = 1.10 to 1.40 not only have a coercivity suitable for magnetic recording

โฆ Synopsis
Ultrafine particles of (\mathrm{Mn}) substituted (\mathrm{Fe}{3} \mathrm{O}{4}) were synthesized using coprecipitation technique. Particles were coated with oleic acid and colloidally dispersed in kerosene. Magnetic and rheological properties of this magnetic fluid are reported. Results suggest that with substitution of (10 % \mathrm{Mn}) in (\mathrm{Fe}{3} \mathrm{O}{4}) it is possible to synthesize a low viscosity ( (6 \mathrm{cP}) ), high magnetization fluid ( 500 G). 1993 Academic Press, Inc.
